The accelerator scheme will incentivise selected startups looking to innovate with generative AI with training and development credits.
Startup applications for the accelerator scheme from AWS are open from today until the 17th April, with the cloud computing hyperscaler calling for generative AI minimum viable products (MVPs) that help to overcome present and future technical challenges.
Applicants leveraging, or looking to leverage cloud technologies will need to be aiming towards the goal of seed-stage funding, with plans to raise this investment in the next 18 months.
Once selected, the cohort of startups will embark on a 10-week programme, focused on developing business and technical skills, including driving machine learning performance, stack optimisation, and go-to-market strategies.
While training, mentorship, and resources will mostly be delivered online, participants are invited to attend two in-person gatherings for both kick-off week (24th May) and final week, culminating with Demo Day (26th-27th July) at AWS Startup Lofts in San Francisco.
Additionally, selected startups will be awarded with up to $300,000 in AWS Activate credits — designed to offset fees and charges for startups developing in the AWS virtual environment — to build products and services on AWS’s tech stack.
While global, the accelerator programme isn’t open to startups located in China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia or Syria.
“Generative AI is an incredibly exciting field that has the potential to revolutionise many industries. Tech startups will play an important role in bringing this technology into the mainstream,” said Howard Wright, vice-president and global head of AWS Startups in a blog post.
“Here at AWS, we believe the startup community will be the driving force moving these innovations forward. The AWS Generative AI Accelerator is designed to act as catalyst, helping some of the most promising companies in this space to take their ideas off the ground.
“With a program tailored to meet the needs of generative AI startups, the AWS Generative AI Accelerator will provide access to impactful AI models and tools, customised go-to-market strategies, machine learning stack optimisation, and more.”
