Tarik Myers and Hazel Cagalitan first documented the peaks and pitfalls of their relationship during season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days and then appeared on season 8 of TLC’s flagship series, 90 Day Fiancé, to give their love a shot. But are they still together today? Get an update on the couple after their public split.
Tarik announced in December 2021 that he and the reality starlet split after 18 months of marriage. “Hazel does not live with me anymore. She said she is [in] another state with people I don’t know,” the Virginia Beach native wrote via his Instagram Story at the time. “She is going back to the Philippines. I do know that [because] she has no choice.”
That being said, the dad of one asked followers to “leave her alone” and not “attack” or “harass” her amid news of their breakup.
However, it seems their breakup was short-lived. By the time they returned to the franchise on an episode of the 90 Day Fiancé spinoff 90 Day Diaries in August 2021, they were already back together. Officially filling for her adjustment of immigration status, the couple also communicated plans to immigrate her son, Harry, to Virginia Beach from the Philippines.
The reality TV couple shared another update on the Discovery+ series in May 2022, detailing that not much had changed regarding bringing Harry to America.
Hazel said she previously agreed with her son’s father that once she settled down in Virginia with Tarik, he would have permission to live with her, but the Before the 90 Days alum claimed he changed his mind. Now, the only other option is for her to fight for full custody of her only child.
“What is missing is my son,” she explained to producers in a confessional. “I really miss my son.”
Detailing a long international process, the couple spoke with Tarik’s friend, Angela Watson, who happens to be a family lawyer.
“Based on the little bit I read about Filipino law, you, as the mother, have full custody, by law, by birth because you’re not married to him,” Angela explained to the couple as they notarized the paperwork. “I don’t know what kind of shenanigans he thinks he can pull but he’s full of crap.”
In Touch confirmed the couple got married on June 7, 2020, in Petersburg, Virginia, but the pair definitely had some issues to sort through before making it official.
Religious differences and a lack of trust previously put them in a rocky place. It didn’t help that he admitted to reaching out to their former partner, Minty, during season 8. However, after he pulled out all the stops for Hazel’s bachelorette party during an episode in March, fans had confidence they would ultimately become husband and wife.
The couple’s wedding ceremony was officiated by their good friend Angela, according to information In Touch obtained from Virginia Beach Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.
Hazel and Tarik haven’t updated fans on television screens but fans believe the pair are seemingly headed for a split in April 2023 after Tarik took to Instagram to share that he was going where he was “appreciated, not tolerated.”
“When a man finds a purpose, he finds a good thing,” the 90 Day Fiancé alum shared on April 8, 2023. “Pat yourself on the back when she won’t and keep winning.”
Fans were quick to speculate about the couple’s relationship status in the comment section.
“Well, you can’t seem to make [your] wife happy,” one fan wrote. “Maybe start with changing the wallpaper to something from the Philippines and not Thailand?! I done told you before what you needed to do!!”
Tarik gave no hints and simply answered, “Ask her for the truth. Guaranteed crickets.”
