Lisa Vanderpump discussed the impact of “Scandoval” on Thursday’s episode of Steve-O‘s podcast.
As the Vanderpump Rules cast continues to deal with the fallout from Tom Sandoval cheating on his longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix with their friend and castmate Raquel Leviss, Lisa reacted to the ratings increase as she also looked back on the recent taping of the season 10 reunion.
“[Is it] not the greatest thing that could ever happen?” Steve-O asked of the affair on the April 6 episode of Wild Ride!, via Us Weekly.
“Well, obviously, you look for great ratings, and it has produced that,” Lisa replied. “But after 11 years with these people … I’m very emotionally invested in them. So, I feel like I’ve been on so many journeys with them. Of course, it’s fantastic television, but at a great price.”
Although some have accused Sandoval of cheating even more, Lisa said his romance with Raquel was “so unexpected.”
“We weren’t filming then. We weren’t prepared for this,” she continued. “We’ve just shot the reunion, and it was very, very intense and emotional. And I love them all, all their follies and foibles. I love them all very much.”
As for what went down between Sandoval and Ariana at the reunion, Lisa said Ariana slammed her ex as a “piece of sh-t” after Steve-O praised Sandoval as “gorgeous.”
“I think Ariana might disagree with you right now,” Lisa noted. “I think she referred to him as a ‘piece of s–t’ in the reunion.”
“With that said, he is one good-looking piece of sh-t,” Steve-O replied.
While Lisa said she believes the entire cast of Pump Rules is “beautiful,” she applauded them even more for giving their all amid filming.
“They don’t sit there in the corner,” she explained. “I’m not saying they’re trained, because they’re not trained at all. The kind of people that are good for reality television are people that really express themselves honestly. And when you do 10 hours of that, and they’re all sitting there, that’s a lot of honesty.”
Also, on Steve-O’s podcast, Lisa said the cast has been known to take advantage of their good looks by engaging in “dirty” and “naughty” behavior.
She then said Pump Rules has been “flowing” in the weeks since Sandoval and Raquel’s affair was uncovered.
“Because of what happened on Vanderpump Rules it kind of kicked off, it’s had like hundreds of millions of views literally in the last few weeks,” she said, per Heavy. “What a nightmare it’s been, but you know what, we’re dealing with it. Reality television is always so unpredictable, and as a producer of that show I’ve seen the ebbs and flows, and it’s really flowing now.”
Vanderpump Rules season 10 airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
